2 Zambo miners die of suffocation

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Personnel of the Philippine National Oil Co. recovered the bodies of two coal miners who died from methane gas suffocation in a tunnel in a village in Diplahan, Zamboanga Sibugay last Friday, authorities said.

Police said the bodies of Rene Talova, 35, and Mark Jay Pantaleon, 19, who worked for the Artemio Pantaleon and Co. coal mine, were recovered nearly five hours after they were trapped and suffocated in the pit. –Roel Pareño (The Philippine Star)
