Pinoy students win silver, bronze in math olympiad

Published by rudy Date posted on July 13, 2014

Filipino students have made the country proud again this year by bagging silver and bronze medals in this year’s International Mathematical Olympiad in South Africa.

This year’s team, which represented the country in the most prestigious international math tilt for high school students, won one silver and three bronzes and two honorable mentions.

Adrian Reginald Sy won the lone silver in the Philippine medal haul, while Farrel Eldrian Wu, Kyle Patrick Dulay and Matthew Ryan Tan got bronze medals.

Sy had won a bronze medal in last year’s IMO.

Clyde Wesley Ang and Ma. Czarina Angela Lao earned honorable mentions.

Since 2008, the Philippines has brought home at least the bronze medal in the competition, winning three bronze medals in the 54th IMO. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
