Sotto tops survey for 2016 senatorial bets

Old names dominate the list published by Pulse Asia

MANILA, Philippines – Comedian-turned-politician Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III topped a new senatorial survey released by Pulse Asia, with 51.6% of voters saying they will vote for him.

He overtook by a very slight margin former frontrunner Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan who got the support of 51.5%. With a 3-point error margin, they are statistically tied in the top spot.

Trailing Sotto and Pangilinan in the senatorial survey are politicians who reportedly have plans to seek higher posts in 2016.

Senator Bongbong Marcos (47.2%)
Former Senator Ping Lacson (47.1%)

The other names to complete the Magic 12 are the following:

Batangas Governor Vilma Santos (44.5%)

Senator Frank Drilon (42.6%)
Former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri (41.5%)
Former Senator Jamby Madrigal (35.9%)
Senator Sergio Osmeña III (35.4%)

Considering the 3-point error margin, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima (35.3%), Boxing champ and Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao (31.3%), and former Akbayan Representative Risa Hontiveros (30.7%) have fighting chances to join the Magic 12. – Rappler.com
