Miner dies in tunnel collapse

CABADBARAN CITY – A miner was killed when a mine tunnel collapsed Friday afternoon at the height of heavy downpour at Sitio Seron, Barangay Del Pilar, this city, police said yesterday.

Cabadbaran City Police Office (CCPO) identified the fatality as Omar Curantao Lumendas, 38 of Purok 3, Barangay Putting-Bato, also this city.

Initial police investigation showed that the victim and other miners were extracting copper ore when the tunnel collapsed at 8 a.m. last Friday.

The victim’s body was brought to Cabadbaran Emegency Hospital for post mortem examination. (Mike U. Crismundo)
