SAN PEDRO CITY – The police chief of the town of Famy in Laguna was relieved from his duty following complaints of harassment from his female subordinate.

The police officer, Senior Inspector Rex Langkay, has been transferred to the Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit of the Laguna police since July 23, according to Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao, Laguna police chief, in a phone interview Tuesday.

This was after the provincial headquarters received a complaint of sexual harassment from a female police officer also assigned in Famy.

Saligao said the policewoman cited an instance when Langkay allegedly asked her to report to his office. But when the policewoman entered his room, the police chief, in his 30s, was allegedly “asleep with his pants down,” Saligao said.

“It’s a very serious accusation that may ruin someone’s reputation. That’s why we don’t want as much as possible to discuss the case until the investigation is concluded,” Saligao said.
But on Tuesday in Camp Crame, it was Police Director General Ricardo Marquez who announced Langkay’s relief.

Saligao said Senior Inspector Henry Villagonzalo, from the Laguna provincial police headquarters, was designated to replace Langkay as Famy police chief.
