CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – Local rescuers have recovered the bodies of two miners buried alive in a landslide in Barangay Ucab, Itogon, Benguet Friday, police said yesterday.

Police said rescuers had difficulty retrieving the bodies of Eddie Latigo, 50; and Jonas Isang, 24, due to debris inside the mine.

Police said the victims were mining when the incident happened Thursday despite the suspension of small-scale mining operations in the province by Gov. Nestor Fongwan due to heavy rains. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
