Lineman dies in manhole

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A telephone lineman reportedly died of suffocation as he was repairing communication cables in a manhole in Kawit, Cavite before dawn yesterday.

Ricardo Dioneda was declared dead on arrival at the Crisostomo Hospital.

Dioneda’s fellow workers believe he suffered difficulty in breathing as he was working in the manhole in Barangay Baisahan at past 1 a.m.

Police were still investigating the incident. –Ed Amoroso (The Philippine Star)
