Carpenter electrocuted

A 59-year-old carpenter was electrocuted in Quezon City Saturday, police said yesterday. Police identified the 59-year-old victim as Diego Carlos Medina, of Cainta, Rizal.

Initial investigation disclosed that Medina was alone painting the firewall of the house of Iris Montes in Greenview Executive Village, Barangay Sauyo, Novaliches, at 9:10 a.m. when the incident happened. Investigators said the aluminium handle of Medina’s roller brush accidentally hit a tension wire resulting into a short-circuit explosion.

Medina sustained burns and lost his balance. He fell to the ground head first and hit the concrete fence, police said. Scene-of-the-Crime Operatives said Medina sustained burns on the right wrist and palm and succumbed to head injuries. Montes’ househelp, Judy Ann Federes, who was cleaning the receiving room of the house at that time, said she suddenly heard an explosion from upstairs. Federes checked and saw Medina on the ground.
