Woman dies, 3 hurt in Batangas fire

BATANGAS, Philippines – A 35-year-old woman died and three others were injured when a fire gutted a restaurant and a bakery in Batangas City Tuesday night.

Police identified the fatality as Catherine Arcega, a resident of Barangay Sta. Clara in Batangas City. Investigators said Arcega was trapped in the kitchen.

Restaurant helpers Jon-jon Frane and Rudy Mendoza and cook Joseph Mandigma remained confined at the St. Patrick Hospital in Batangas City yesterday. –Arnell Ozaeta (The Philippine Star)
