OFW na nahulog sa building naiuwi na ang bangkay

Isang araw bago ang kaarawan, dumating na sa bansa ang labi ng isang overseas Filipino worker (OFW) na namatay matapos mahulog mula sa ika-15 palapag sa tinitirahan nitong gusali sa Malaysia.

Bandang ala-una ng hapon noong Hulyo 24 nang dumating ang bangkay ng OFW na si Nikki Torrefranca, 27, sa Kalibo International Airport.

Emosyonal naman ang pagsalubong ng pamilya Torrefranca mula sa Barangay Polo New Washington, Aklan sa labi ng OFW na kung saan nakasilid sa isang kahon nang lumapag ang eroplano na pinagsakyan dito sa nasabing paliparan.

Nagpapasalamat naman si Renato Torrefranca, ama ni Nikki sa embahada ng Pilipinas sa Malaysia at sa tanggapan ng Overseas Welfare Workers Administration (OWWA) na naging mabilis ang pagpauwi sa labi ng kanyang anak ito’y matapos sa kanilang hilingin na bago sumapit ang Hulyo 25 ay makapiling nila ang kanilang anak dahil sa kaarawan nito.

Magugunitang noong Hulyo 20 dakong alas-2:30 ng madaling-araw nang mataranta at tumakas umano si Nikki mula sa mga Malaysian authorities na nagsasagawa ng raid laban sa mga undocumented worker na kung saan umakyat sa ika-15 palapag at bumagsak ito sa ika-10 palapag na agad itong namatay dahil sa internal injuries.

Sinasabing guma­gamit lamang ang OFW ng tourist visa at nagtatrabaho sa isang restaurant sa Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ng halos isang taon.
