3 miners drown in Camarines Norte

CAMARINES NORTE, Philippines – Three miners drowned in Labo, Camarines Norte on Sunday.

Reports reaching Camp Wenceslao Vinzons Sr. identified the fatalities as Florentino Mallanes, 47; Mark Alvin Echano, 22, and Joel Cena 36, resident of Barangay Dallas.

Initial investigation showed the victims were retrieving mining equipment in an abandoned pit when heavy rains spawned flooding in the area.
