800 Chinese workers ikinalat sa MM

Aabot sa mahigit sa 800 Chinese workers na nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa utos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na isara ang Fort Ilocandia Resort and Casino sa Laoag City, Ilocos Norte ang nailipat sa ilang lugar sa Metro Manila bilang online gambling operators.

Ayon sa source ng Abante, ang nasabing mga Chinese citizens ay kasalukuyang nakakalat sa Binondo, Manila at sa Makati, Mandaluyong gayundin sa Pasig City at nagtatrabaho sa online gambling operators na nagbibigay ng serbisyo sa mga foreign high rollers partikular mula sa mainland China, Hong Kong at Taiwan.

Nabatid na 220 Chinese nationals na may hawak ng Cagayan Export Zone Authority (CEZA) visas ang kinuha ang serbisyo ng Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sa Binondo, Manila upang magpatakbo ng online gambling business na magkunwang lehitimong BPO firm.

Samantalang ang iba pang Chinese workers mula sa nagsarang casino sa Ilocos Norte ay nagtatrabaho at nagkunwaring call center agents sa ilang 5-star hotels sa National Capital Region (NCR) Metro Manila suba­lit nagtatrabaho ang mga ito sa online betting station.

Sinasabi pang ang mga may-ari ng mga BPO ay nagawang makakuha ng permit para makapag-operate sa NCR sa kabila ng regulasyon ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) na ang lisensya o work permit na inilabas ng CEZA ay hindi maaaring magamit sa labas nito o sa Metro Manila.
