Plastics factory blast: 1 dead, 6 hurt

MANILA, Philippines – One woman was killed while six others were injured in an air tank explosion at a plastics factory in Quezon City before dawn Thursday.

Machine operator Rochelle Espinosa, 31, and her fellow operators were thrown some meters away when a high-pressure air tank exploded at the Arwin Plastic Corp. along Quirino Highway in Brgy. Kaligayahan at around 2:45 a.m.

The victims were rushed to the Bernandino Hospital but Espinosa was declared dead on arrival due to a head injury.

Police identified the other victims as Acely delos Santos, 22; Alwin Banarez, 30; Michael Bergonia, 26; Richcel Dumalag, 19; Sandra Galinod, 19; and Mitchelle Alcantara, 35.
