Warning sa OFWs: Mag-ingat sa Canada job offers

Muling binalaan kahapon ng Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) ang publiko laban sa mga pekeng trabaho na iniaalok sa internet, sa pamamagitan ng email at social media.

Ang babala ay ginawa ng POEA matapos na makatanggap ng forwarded email na nag-iimporma sa recipient nito na napili siya para magtrabaho sa Canada, at nakatakdang interbyuhin ng mga kinatawan ng mga emplo­yer, na kasaluku­yan na umanong nasa Pilipinas.

Nangako pa umano ang nagpadala ng email na walang placement at processing fee na dapat bayaran ang aplikante, ngunit hinihingian ng P3,800 para sa slot reservation.

Sinabi pa umano nito na may partnership ito at ang lisensiyadong recruitment agency sa bansa, para sa pagdaraos ng seminar at pagproseso ng employment documents.

Marami ring trabaho na iniaalok kabilang ang farm laborers, fruit pickers, factory workers, medical staff, caregivers, engineers, truck drivers at office workers.

Hinihikayat din ng mga scammer ang mga aplikante sa pamamagitan ng pag-aalok ng mga ‘too-good-to-be-true’ na mga pangako, tulad ng malaking sahod, 250 porsiyentong overtime pay at bayad na bakasyon.

Inaatasan din nito ang aplikante na ipadala ang reservation fee sa pamamagitan ng money remittance company.

Gayunman, modus umano nito na kapag natanggap na ang bayad ay titigil na ang scammer sa pakikipag-komunikasyon sa kanyang biktima.

Kaugnay nito, muling pinayuhan ng POEA ang publiko na huwag basta-basta maniwala sa mga pangako ng mga nag-aalok ng trabaho sa internet at mas makabubuting tiyaking legal ang isang job offer bago ito tulu­yang tanggapin.
