President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the release of a one-time gratuity pay of P1,000 to P2,000 for contractual workers in government.

“Granting a year-end Gratuity Pay to these workers is a well-deserved recognition of their hard work,” the administrative order (AO) read, which was signed by Duterte on January 31.

The order said workers who rendered “satisfactory service” for at least four months as of December 15, 2016 would receive a gratuity pay of not more than P2,000, given that their contracts were still effective on the same date.

The order added that workers who have rendered services for less than four months on the same period would also receive a gratuity pay of not exceeding P1,000.

The AO covers contractual workers of national government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned and -controlled corporations and government financial institutions. RAM
