Benguet miner killed in tunnel blast accident

BAGUIO CITY—A miner died from an accident during a tunnel blasting operation at a small-scale mine in Itogon town in Benguet province on Wednesday morning (April 26), according to a belated report from the Cordillera police.

Toribio Viscaya, 67, was heard yelling for help after he set off explosive charges inside the tunnel of Wilfredo Viscaya Api-it. He was rescued and rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Hospital for treatment but he died at 1 p.m./rga
