LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – A construction worker was decapitated after he fell from a scaffolding in Malabog, Albay on Saturday.

The head of Glen Joy Buela, 22, was severed when his body hit a power cable and a concrete fence during the accident that occurred in Barangay Salvacion at around 8 a.m.

An explosion occurred as Buela’s body hit the cable of the Albay Power Energy Corp. Inc.

The explosion prompted Buela’s father Soly, 54, and another worker, JR Lorenzana, to jump from the scaffolding.

The three were working on a covered court project when they figured in the accident.

The incident cut power supply in Malabog and in the nearby town of Daraga.

Lorenzana and the elder Buela were taken to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital for treatment.

Probers said Buela lost his balance as he was standing on the scaffolding some 30 meters above the ground.

Responding police officers found Buela’s head within the fence and his body outside.
