3 hurt in MRT-7 mishap

MANILA, Philippines – Three people were injured after the steel column they were assembling for the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) project collapsed in Quezon City on Monday.

Randy Montilla, 26; Roy Bigno, 31; and Ronel Santos, 44, sustained fractures following the incident, which happened at the Rebar Fabrication Yard in Barangay Sauyo at around 8:15 a.m.

According to a report from the Novaliches police station, the victims were inside the steel column when the structure collapsed.

Co-workers rescued the victims and brought them to Far Easter University Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation for treatment.

Of the three, Santos is in critical condition at the hospital’s intensive care unit because of severe injuries in the head and body.

The other two are recuperating from fractures, police said.
