Worker dies in mishap

TUGUEGARAO , Philippines – A construction foreman died after he was ran over by a road roller here on Friday night.

Ernel Madraina, 42, of Haijin Corp. Industries and Construction Co. Ltd., was allegedly texting on his cellphone when he figured in an accident at around 7:30 p.m. in Barangay Gannaban.

Madraina was declared dead on arrival in a hospital, according to Tuguegarao police chief Superintendent Edward Guzman.

The operator of the road roller, identified as Joery Angelada, 40, said he did not see the victim.

Responding police officers arrested Angelada.
