BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A young construction worker was killed after being caught in an explosion during blasting operations for the construction of a farm-to-market road in Luba town, Abra Thursday afternoon.

Jason Evaresto, 22, was rushed to the health center in Barangay Gayaman, where the incident happened, and later transferred to the Candon General Hospital in Candon City, Ilocos Sur where he was declared dead on arrival, Luba police said.

The victim had apparently failed to heed a warning by Nestor Construction, the contractor, for laborers to clear the site in the vicinity of Caba Creek in Gayaman.
