Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III has authorized 126 deputized inspectors who are members of labor organizations, employer representatives and professional groups to participate in the inspection of enterprises for compliance with labor standards.

Bello said the authority, which took effect on January 26 and will be valid until December 31, will help the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) augment its workforce in the strict enforcement of labor laws in various establishments in the country.

He issued the general authority to DOLE’s social partners through Administrative Order No. 36, series of 2018.

Bello has directed DOLE regional directors to issue the corresponding authority to assess or inspect target establishments and workplaces.

The authority is coterminous with the validity of the Administrative Order, unless a shorter period is provided by the regional director.
