DAGUPAN CITY — A truck driver was killed on Tuesday night (April 17) after he was run over by a payloader in a quarry site at Tayug town in Pangasinan province, police said on Wednesday (April 18).

Romelan Nascionales, 42, was already dead when he reached the Eastern Pangasinan District Hospital in Tayug, where rescuers took him.

Nascionales and his co-worker Abelardo Quiballo, 18, were on their way home at 10:41 p.m. after having drinks at the quarry site in Barangay Barangobong in Tayug, said Chief Insp. Bernabe Ramos, Tayug police chief.

Quiballo was driving the payloader with Nascionales in the payloader’s bucket that extended from the vehicle’s front end.

But as they traversed the river bed from the quarry site, the payloader hit a hump, throwing off Nascionales.

Quiballo immediately surrendered to the police and a case of homicide is now being readied against him.
