Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said he had secured from the country’s biggest group of employers its commitment to regularize by yearend 300,000 workers as its contribution to the government’s campaign to end to contractualization.

Bello said his office was finalizing an agreement with the Employers Confederation of the Philippines (Ecop) on how its member-companies could effectively implement the plan, which he said “demonstrates the employers’ cooperation with the government.”

He noted that Ecop’s commitment would bring to around 600,000 the number of workers who would enjoy regular employment status this year.
