At least 17 women, including eight minors aged between 14 and 16, were rescued from an alleged human trafficking ring by authorities in an entrapment operation conducted in Cavite, James Agustin reported on Unang Balita.

The pimp was identified as a minor, who conducts transactions via text messages and social media.

In a video, the pimp can be seen in possession of P5,000 which is the payment given by the police who pretended to be a customer.

The suspect was arrested by the police, who found that the women the suspect intended to pimp were already inside a room.

The suspect is faced with a complaint for alleged violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, but being a minor would have to be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The rescued women will undergo social counselling. —
