TAGANAAN, Surigao Del Norte – The bodies of two miners were recovered inside a tunnel at a private mining site in Sitio Duyungan, Barangay Laurel on Tuesday afternoon.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Christian Rafols, information officer of Police Regional Office 13 identified the miners as Mark Anthony Diaz, 30, and his brother Eman, 20, residents of Barangay Aurora.

Initial investigation showed that the brothers, along with three others, were inside the tunnel to mine gold when they began to smell foul odor on Tuesday morning.

Their companions came out safe. However, the brothers did not make it.
