NINE Hugpong Ng Pagbabago (HNP) senatorial candidates led by Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos and three others were endorsed by the influential Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) for the May 13 midterm polls.
Well-placed sources bared the INC called the senatorial bets last Monday to inform them about the endorsement.

Aside from Marcos, multiple sources said the eight other HNP senatorial candidates include reelectionist Sens. Sonny Angara and Cynthia Villar, Deputy Speaker and Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano, ex-Sens. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr., former special assistant to the president Christopher “Bong” Go, former presidential adviser on political affairs Francis Tolentino, and former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.

The sources added that the INC also endorsed independent re-electionist Senators Grace Poe and Nancy Binay and former Sen. Lito Lapid.

It was learned that the INC’s sample ballot would be distributed to their members during today’s worship services.

Majority of the candidates if not all were among those who occupied the top 12 spots in various popularity surveys, especially the Social Weather Stations (SWS) and Pulse Asia Inc.

INC is known for its bloc voting which could be a huge factor in Monday’s tightly contested senatorial race.
