The country’s biggest tax collection agency wants Philippine offshore gaming operators employing unregistered foreign nationals to settle P4.4 billion in unpaid taxes.

In a statement, the Bureau of Internal Revenue said it issued a new batch of notices to collect P3.4 billion from Pogo companies. This is on top of the P1 billion in witholding taxes earlier assessed by the BIR.

“Those employers who remain unresponsive will be subjected to a formal investigation and incremental penalties would then be imposed,” the BIR said.

The BIR, the departments of labor and justice and the Bureau of Immigration, have joined forces to require all foreign workers to secure a taxiIdentification number before they can secure official working permits.
