MANILA, Philippines — One person died and four others were injured when a concrete wall collapsed during the demolition of a condemned building in Caloocan City on Thursday afternoon.
The fatality, identified only as “John-john,” died at the scene after he was pinned under the wall along Sevilla street in Barangay 57, said Lt. Col. Ferdinand del Rosario, assistant city police chief for administration.
Michael Geronimo, 18; Teodoro Dimatawaran, 33; Michael Delgado, 40, and Adrian Bolambao, 34, were taken to the Caloocan City Medical Center for treatment.
Mayor Oscar Malapitan ordered an investigation after learning that the people behind the demolition had not secured permits.
“We will file a case against the contractor and the owner as we knew that there was a violation. Upon knowing the incident, I immediately tasked our personnel to conduct an investigation,” he said.
