Nasa 184 manggagawang Chinese sa GN Power Coal Plant sa Mariveles, Bataan ang tinamaan ng dengue mula pa noong Enero, ayon sa pamunuan ng planta.
Ayon sa tala ng planta, aabot sa 120 Chinese workers at dalawang Pinoy ang nagkaroon ng dengue simula Pebrero hanggang Abril, dahilan para magdeklara ng outbreak ang provincial health office ng Bataan sa planta noong Mayo.
Samantala, aabot naman sa 64 Chinese at apat na Pinoy ang natamaan ng ikalawang outbreak mula Hunyo hanggang Agosto.
Ayon kay Dr. Rosanna Buccahan, pinuno ng Bataan Provincial Health Office, stagnant water o naipong tubig sa tinitirhan ng mga manggagawa ang posibleng dahilan ng kanilang sakit.
“Upon investigation nakita namin ‘yung difference noong kanilang accommodation… Comparing to the other accommodations doon sa mga Pinoy, medyo talagang may mga stagnant water dito sa sa level 2 and 3 (ng planta) na tinitirhan ng mga Chinese,” ani Buccahan
Aabot sa 1,000 Chinese workers ang nagtatrabaho sa planta, at naninirahan sila rito habang hindi pa tapos ang kanilang proyekto.
Sa ilalim ng engineering, procurement, and construction nagtatrabaho ang mga Chinese workers, at trabaho nilang mag-supervise sa mga Pinoy construction worker na nagtatrabaho sa lugar.
Sa unang outbreak pa lang, namili na raw ang kompanya ng fogging at health equipment tulad ng thermal scanner at mga dengue test kit upang agad ma-detect ang dengue sa mga empleyado.
Ayon kay Roberto Racelis, Jr., Community Relations Vice President ng GN Power, walang naitalang kaso ng dengue ang planta sa nakalipas na linggo.
Kasama ang mga kaso ng GN Power sa 989 kaso ng dengue sa Bataan simula Enero hanggang Agosto. Pero mas mababa ito ng 21 porsiyento kumpara sa parehong mga buwan noong 2018.
Nakikipagtulungan na rin ang GN Power sa paglilinis at fogging sa Barangay Alasasin na nakakasakop sa kanila.
