Bullet kills arsenal ballistician in Bataan

LIMAY, Bataan –– An employee of the Department of National Defense Arsenal in Camp Antonio Luna here died after his colleague accidentally shot him on Thursday morning.

Police Maj. Emelito dela Cruz, Limay police chief, identified the victim as Juanito Oria, 57, a ballistician assigned to examine and test ammunition through firing.

Investigators said the co-worker who test-fired the Armalite and the ammunition was identified as Luisito Hacinas, 40, of Barangay Camacho, Balanga City.

Hacinas was testing an M16 Armalite and ammunition at the 200-meter range and did not know that Oria was still changing target papers.

A bullet hit Oria in the back and exited through his abdomen.

Oria was rushed to St. Michael Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival./lzb
