MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese men were arrested and 22 Chinese women rescued during a raid on a prostitution den at a hotel in Makati City last week, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) said yesterday.

The brothel catered exclusively to Chinese men, the NBI said.

An NBI agent, acting as a customer, called a number printed on a lighter distributed by the group running the den. The agent was told to proceed to the hotel lobby, where he was met by Zhang Lian Wei and taken to the 11th floor.

The agent was led to a room, where the women were waiting. He paid P9,000 to Li Wu Tao and was ushered to another room.

After coordinating with hotel personnel, a team from the NBI’s Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division raided the 11th-floor rooms and rescued the women.

They recovered boxes of condoms, lighters, lubricants and menu cards detailing the services the brothel offered.

Zhang and Li were charged with human trafficking before the Department of Justice, the NBI said.
