Pasig to compel use of ‘permit to leave premises’ when going out for basic needs

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Pasig will enforce the use of “Permit to Leave Premises” (PLP) whenever residents need to go out of their homes to do essential activities starting Thursday, April 30, and until the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) ends.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said PLP is required for residents who must buy essential needs and visit banks for financial needs in a bid to control the number people who should go out of their homes and curb the spread of the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19.

He also reminded residents that going to commercial establishments, such as markets and groceries, must follow the barangay coding schedule to observe strict social distancing.

The barangay coding allows only 10 barangays per day to visit commercial establishments.

However, the local chief executive said those exempted from using PLP are so-called Authorized Persons Outside of Residence enumerated in the guidelines of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Sotto pointed out that if residents will strictly follow the new guidelines, the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) may be finally concluded on May 15.

“Nakikita natin na epektibo ang ECQ. Pero ‘di tayo dapat mag-relax. Hihigpitan pa natin ng konti sa huling 2 (weeks),” he said.

(We are seeing that ECQ is effective but we should not relax. We will be stricter a bit more in the remaining two weeks.)

“Kung susunod tayo, tataas ang tsansa na 2 weeks na lang ang pinaka striktong pag-quarantine,” he added.

(If we all follow, there is a high chance that the strictest quarantine will last in just two weeks.)
