Construction worker patay sa gitna ng pagbibisikleta papuntang trabaho

MAYNILA — Patay ang isang construction worker matapos umanong mag-collapse at mabagok habang nagbibisikleta papunta sa trabaho nitong Biyernes ng umaga.

Nakahandusay sa kalsada ang 57 anyos na construction worker na si Enrique Minerva nang datnan ng mga rumespondeng tauhan ng Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Ayon kay MMDA Edsa Traffic Management chief Bong Nebrija, dating MMDA employee si Minerva at nagtrabaho sa construction matapos magretiro sa ahensiya.

Bukas na ang kanilang construction site sa ilalim ng modified lockdown sa Metro Manila kaya pumapasok na ito sa trabaho. Pero dahil wala pang public transportation ay nagbibisikleta ito mula sa kaniyang bahay sa Quezon City hanggang construction site sa Bicutan.

Ayon sa bayaw ng biktima, nag-collapse si Minerva at medyo masama ang pagbagsak ng ulo sa semento.

Kinumpirma naman ng bayaw ng biktima na may sakit ito sa puso.

Kaya matindi ang payo ng mga doktor sa mga nagbibisikleta lalo na ngayong sinasabing ito na ang new normal pagdating sa transportasyon.

“Hindi masamang mag-bike, magandang exercise nga ito pero dapat handa ka. Dapat bago magbisikleta, mag warm-up muna, mag-exercise, stretching, sit ups, mag-walking bago sumakay ng bike,” ani Dra. Susan Mercado, public health expert.

“Pakinggan ang iyong katawan, kapag napapagod na pumunta sa malilim, uminom ng tubig,” dagdag ni Mercado.

Nagkukumahog naman ang MMDA sa pagpapaalala sa Department of Public Works and Highways na agad aksyunan ang pagtatayo ng mga tamang bike lane at lalakaran ng mga tao.
