PUV operators get cash grants

MANILA, Philippines — Over 119,000 public utility vehicle (PUV) operators have received cash subsidy from the government as part of social amelioration measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said P774 million has been released for its direct cash subsidy program.

The LTFRB reached 88 percent of the beneficiaries of the program.

Transport operators received P6,500 for each of their registered units.

“Minadali ng ahensiya ang pamimigay ng cash subsidy to help the PUV opertators displaced by the pandemic,” the LTFRB said.
