MANILA, Philippines — Asian food conglomerate Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) is bringing Taiwan’s Milkshop bubble tea brand to the Philippines, initially to its Chowking and Mang Inasal stores.

In a disclosure yesterday, JFC said that together with its subsidiaries, Fresh N’ Famous Foods Inc (FNF) and Mang Inasal Philippines Inc. (MI), it entered into a license agreement with Milkshop International Co. Ltd., a Taiwanese tea brand also known as Milksha.

Under the agreement, JFC and the two subsidiaries would have exclusive rights to sell and market products under the Milksha brand in their stores.

The current plan is for Milksha products to be sold in Chowking stores, but JFC has the option to expand Milksha’s presence to its other Philippine restaurant brands.

The agreement enables the JFC Group to participate in this fast-growing beverage category.

Milksha, which opened in Taiwan in 2004, has been recognized as “The best bubble tea” drink brand by DCard, Taiwan’s largest anonymous communication platform.

It now has over 260 outlets, with over 235 outlets in Taiwan and 34 outlets in other countries namely Singapore, Australia, China, Canada and Japan.

Milkshop founder and chairman Kevin Lin said the company is excited to be working with JFC to grow Milksha in the Philippines.
