MANILA, Philippines — Over P800 million in financial aid has been distributed to jeepney drivers under the fuel subsidy program of the Department of Transportation.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said 119,159 jeepney drivers nationwide received P857,944,800 in fuel subsidy, which represents 86 percent of the total funding allotted to beneficiaries of the program.

Each jeepney driver is entitled to receive P7,200 worth of fuel through the Pantawid Pasada Program or PPP cards.

The LTFRB said the Landbank of the Philippines had processed the PPP cards issued to jeepney drivers.

“We urge the beneficiaries to go to the nearest LTFRB regional office so they can see the schedule of the claiming of PPP cards at the Landbank,” the transport agency said.

The government launched the fuel subsidy program to help public utility vehicle drivers affected by the recent oil price hikes.
