ALU-TUCP opens Southern Mindanao office

Davao City (4 July) — Associated Labor Unions-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP) founder Atty. Democrito Mendoza led the inauguration of the 6-storey Southern Mindanao Regional Office Building yesterday along M. Roxas St., Davao City.

With offices based in Cebu City, Manila, and Cagayan de Oro, the association opened its office in Davao to signify its strong commitment to its members in the city.

“We have strong industries here especially on agriculture, banking, and geothermal and that pushed us to really establish an office here.” said Atty. Raymond Mendoza, TUCP Party List Representative.

The P40 million building is opened for commercial establishment rentals for the first and second floor. The whole of third floor is intended for the regional office; while the sixth floor is designed as a convention area.

To make the establishment self-generating, the fourth and fifth floors were opened as a hostel where federation and union members can stay while they transact business in the city.

Mendoza bared that the plan of constructing the building was thought about twenty years ago, however, due to budget requirements the construction was only realized this year.

“By opening this building, we can tell our members that we care for them and we offer more services from the minimal membership dues that they pay to the union,” he said. (Mai Gevera, PIA XI)
