Cagayan de Oro City (2 February) — Another jobs fair has been scheduled Feb. 9-10, 2008 at the ALU Bldg., Kauswagan, this city, for job vacancies requiring technical, vocational, formal and non-formal skills.
Aimed at giving jobseekers access to gainful employment not only for local and overseas employment, the activity is sponsored by and the Transnational Resources, Inc. (TRI) and the NYK-FilShip Management, Inc. (NYK-Fil) in coordination with the Philippine Seafarers Union under the Associated Labor Union-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (ALU-TUCP).
Asst. Regional Director Dorothy E. Gabe of the Dept. of Labor and Employment (DOLE), region 10, said the jobs fair will start from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on both dates.
Per Special Recruitment Authority (SRA) No. 83-CO issued by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), TRI has been given the authority to recruit workers in the city through its representatives.
The said authority also covers the TRI principals, namely: DCL Island Development Ltd, DK International PTY Ltd. and Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd..
Meanwhile, Nicandro L. Borja of the ALU-TUCP Northern Mindanao and one of the labor representatives to the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) of the region said the following job offers, among others, are included in the fair:
Chief engineers for a methanol chemical tanker, fitter maintenance attendants, cooks, cook assistants, cook trainees, bulk chief mate for passenger ship, Master mariner, chief officer, second officer, able seaman, ordinary seaman, oiler, wiper, engine boy and deck boy. Audio/video programmers with experience on satellite broadcast system, computer operators, cost controllers, crane operators, document controllers, mechanical engineers, piping engineers, piping supervisor, purchasers, drivers of light vehicles and administrators.
Auto electricians, building engineers, civil engineers, instrument engineers, insulation engineers, iron workers, pipe fitters, progress controllers, quantity surveyors, excavators, electrical engineers, equipment supervisors and material controllers.
Scaffolding and painting foremen, cost and plan engineers, electrical supervisors, laboratory supervisors, sand blasters, welders, waitresses, female nurses and hotel personnel, such as bellboys, housekeeping staff, waiters, beauticians and Spa therapists.
