CEBU, Philippines – The Associated Labor Union-Trade Union Congress of the Philippines is optimistic that the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board will grant its request for additional wage in Central Visayas after salary of workers in Metro Manila was increased recently by P22 per day.
“We expect the same salary increase, more or less. But as of now, there is no schedule for public hearing about our petition,” said ALU-TUCP spokesperson Joy Lim.
TUCP filed a P100 across-the-board wage hike for workers in Region VII while THE Cebu Labor Coalition is asking for a P128.60 increase.
Lim said they are continuously pushing for the board to immediately act on their petition as the workers badly need an increase in their pay.
Lawyer Hedelito Pascual, management representative of RTWPB, said the board will conduct a public hearing on the petitions 15 days from today.
RTWPB Chairman Elias Cayanong said earlier the petitioners would just have to wait and see.
“I cannot promise anything as of now. Di ko kaingon nga walay increase, di sad ko kaingon nga nay increase,” he said. (FREEMAN NEWS)
