MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Another firecracker warehouse, this time in the Bulacan town of Baliuag, exploded yesterday, less than 48 hours after a massive blast flattened a similar bodega in Angat town Monday night.

No one though was hurt in the explosion that gutted the warehouse
of NTR Fireworks in the middle of a ricefield in Barangay Sto. Niño Baliuag town at around 10 a.m. yesterday.

A 54-year-old woman was killed and eight others were injured in the Angat blast.

Liz Mungcal, head of the provincial disaster management office
, said Narciso Roque, a licensed pyrotechnics manufacturer, owned the Baliuag warehouse where skyrockets or kwitis were being made.

Citing reports from the local Bureau of Fire Protection, Mungcal said damage was placed at only P5,000. But residents said the damage could be more.

Fire Superintendent Absolon Zipagan, provincial fire marshal, said they were still determining the cause of the explosion. –Dino Balabo (The Philippine Star)
