MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines will import an additional 300,000 metric tons of rice to prevent a shortage in the latter part of the year, National Food Authority Administrator Angelito Banayo said.
Banayo said the NFA plans to import additional 300,000 metric tons of rice to ensure enough rice supply in the warehouses in case typhoons damage the second-semester harvests. “I’d play it safe and buy some more. I think an additional 300,000 MT would be enough,” he said. –Kristine L. Alave
