MARIVELES, Bataan: Six Chinese workers sustained head and body injuries after they allegedly figured in a brawl with other Chinese inside a power plant undergoing construction in Barangay Alas-Asin here.
Supt. Allan Macapagal, Provincial police intelligence and investigation chief, identified the victims as He Xiao Jun, 34; Jeng Zen Jin, 32; Zeng Liang, 23; Zeng Liang, 34; Zeng Yong Gun, 37; and Syeng Zeng, 35; all are Chinese.
Victims were first brought to Maheseco Hospital in Mariveles but were later transferred to the Bataan Doctors’ Hospital in Balanga City.
Police reports showed that one of the suspects went at the seaside portion of GN Power Plant to borrow some materials but one of the victims allegedly refused, leading to a verbal tussle.
In the fit of anger, one of the victims allegedly punched one of the suspects. The suspect then left but later returned with 15 or more companions who pounced on the victims, Macapagal said.
Police said that Chinese interpreter Liu Jia explained that what happened was a little misunderstanding between the victims and the suspects. No Filipino worker was involved in the melee.
Those involved in the riot will be sent back to Mainland China, the interpreter reportedly told police.
