LAGAWE, Ifugao, June 24(PIA)- – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) here reactivated the Provincial Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (PTIPC) to serve as a forum for tripartite advisory and consultation among labor, employers, and government sectors in the formulation and implementation of labor and social policies.
This is in pursuant with the provisions of the Philippine Constitution on Social Justice and Human Rights and Tripartism consistent with the Labor Code of the Philippines.
According to DOLE-Ifugao head Alex Gumabol, the PTIPC needs to be reactivated since it has been dormant for several years already.
The PTIPC is a multi-sectoral body composed of representatives from the government, workers and their employers, and organizations that encourage broad and democratic base of participation through social dialogues, consultations, and consensus.
Its purposes are to empower workers and employers’ organizations and enhance their rights to attain industrial peace and improve productivity.
The PTIPC will resolve all industrial cases or all labor issues to be conciliated by the DOLE-Ifugao within a period of 30 days except intra-union or inter-union disputes and the interpretation of company policies, said Gumabol.
Elected officers of the Ifugao PTIPC for this year are Hubert Immoliap of the Banaue Savings and Credit Cooperative as chairman, Erlinda Bunnolna of the Piwong Cooperative as vice chairman, and Janet Belingon of Ifugao Academy as secretary.
The sectoral representatives are: Cooperative Management Sector – Gaspar Nawew of Piwong Cooperative; Labor – Christopher Bacaken of Hojap Cooperative; Transport – Rishley Codamon of the KMS Lines; Retail Services – Oscar Dugyon of Lagawe Trading; Hotel and Restaurant- Andres Dunuan of Halfway Lodge and Restaurant; Academe -Maria Humiding of Don Bosco High School and Government Sector – DOLE, DTI, and the Ifugao provincial government unit.
The action plan of the Tripartite Peace Council includes an inquiry to DOLE regarding retirement of Board of Directors or trustees, officers, and employees; questions about performance evaluation and monitoring; and about the retirement plan of the BOD/BOT. *(JDP/DBC-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
