Two miners, both minors were recovered dead in a tunnel of mining firm in Aroroy town, Masbate province last Wednesday night.

Search and rescue teams were able to find the bodies of Nober Deonan and Antonio Reviro both residents of Uson, Masbate.

Arroyo chief of police Inspector Christian Jesus Huelva believed that the victims died of suffocation while inside the tunnel located in Barangay Panique.

“Kelan lang me ganito ring insidente kung saan kinapos din sa hangin kaya namatay sa loob ng tunnel,” Huelva said, adding that in the same tunnel on July 3, one Rosaldo Cortes, 25, also died due to suffocation.

Meanwhile, a truck helper was killed while two others were critically injured when their vehicle plunged into a 30-feet ravine in Pagbilao, Quezon last Friday.

The fatality was identified only as “Joemi,” a resident of Daraga, Albay.

The truck driver, Eduardo Rovales Mostar, and his other helper, Anacleto Minero Dazal, sustained serious injuries and were taken by rescuers to the Quezon Medical Center in Lucena City.

Police report said that the Mitsubishi Fusu 10-wheel truck (EVE-232) was negotiating the zigzag diversion road when the vehicle lost its brakes in Barangay Silangang Malicboy. The truck was bound for Manila.

The truck slammed into the concrete fence at the left side of the road and fell off the cliff, Hachaso said.

The body of the deceased now lies at Saint Peter Funeral chapel in Lucena City, police officer said.

Likewise, a Lucena-bound bus bumped a police mobile car in Sariaya town along the Maharlika Highway last Friday afternoon.

The police vehicle, a white Toyota Altis, was carrying policemen on patrol in Barangay Balubal when it was accidentally hit on its front right side fender by the AB Liner bus, the report said.
