3 miners die in Compostela landslide

MANILA, Philippines – Three local miners killed and four others were wounded in a landslide in Compostela Valley, authorities reported today.

The Compostela Valley Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) identified the four fatalities as Jimmy Aripaypay, Berto Belayo and Daniel Villafuerte.

The PDRRMC said that the victims died after they were trapped in a tunnel that was hit by a landslide on Tuesday night.

The four injured miners were Alvin Desucatan, Larry Abinsay, Michael Arman Langomes and Rommel Aribato. They are now being treated in Montevista District Hospital. –Philippine Star
