DOLE launches e-OSH

QUEZON CITY, Nov. 4 (PIA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through its attached agency, the Occupational Safety and Health Center (OSHC) launched today (Nov. 4) the e-OSH, to enable more workers to have access to occupational safety and health (OSH) courses.

The e-OSH is an online training course on occupational safety and health for workers who are interested in acquiring the basic OSH course but are unable to attend the regular five-day OSH courses.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), companies are required to have full time or part time safety officers, who have taken the 40-hour OSH training courses like Basic Occupational Safety and Health Course and Construction Safety Training.

Labor & Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said that through e-OSH knowledge on protecting workers from accidents and illnesses will be widely accessible.

The OSHC has noted an increasing number of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on leave from abroad who wish to attend the various OSH trainings.

These OFWs often compete for slots with the thousands of workers here in the Philippines who are also required by their companies to take OSH courses.

Now, workers nationwide can avail of the online OSH courses and complete them while at work within three months.

Online participants who finish the modules and the tests at the end of each module will be awarded certificates of completion within three months while those who will be applying for accreditation as safety practitioners must take the competency exam personally at the OSHC. (RJB/SDL-PIA NCR)
