‘Indefinite stay’ sa mga negosyanteng kukuha ng 10 Pinoy workers, ok sa TUCP

Sinuportahan ng pinakamalaking organisasyon ng mga manggagawa sa bansa ang bagong visa program ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na magbibigay ng “indefinite stay” sa mga negosyanteng mamumuhunan at kukuha ng 10 Pinoy workers o higit pa.

Pinuri ni Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) secretary-general Ernesto Herrera, dating senador at may-akda ng ilang batas na may kaugnayan sa paggawa at trabaho, si Immigration Commissioner Mar­ celino Libanan sa paglalagay ng ganitong programa na makatutulong sa pagbawas sa unemployment rate ng bansa. Ayon sa National Statistics Office, ang unemployment rate ng bansa ay nasa 7.4 percent na, o may katumbas na 2.75 milyong Pinoy na walang trabaho.

Isinusulong ng TUCP ang isang national employment plan na magtatakda sa bawat ahensiya ng gobyerno na magsagawa ng mas maraming labor-intensive projects.

Balak ni Libanan na bigyan ng indefinite non-immigrant visa ang lahat ng dayuhan na magbubuhos ng puhu­nan sa bansa at kukuha ng 10 Pinoy workers o higit pa. Ang programa ay naghihintay na ng pag-apruba ng Pa­lasyo, na siyang maglalabas ng executive orer ukol sa guidelines na gagamitin dito. –Butch Quejada, Philippine Star
