THIRTEEN Filipino nurses out of the 160 who took Japan’s national licensure examinations for nurses this year passed the tests called Kangoshi, which is considered one of the most difficult nursing tests in the world.
“I warmly congratulate the 13 Filipino nurses who passed the very difficult Japanese nursing examinations,” Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said.
“They will now get their Japanese licenses and practice their profession as nurses in Japan.”
Japan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare released the list of successful examinees on March 26. The nurses took the tests on Feb. 19.
Baldoz said the 13 successful examinees brought to 15 the total number of passers of the Japanese nursing licensure examinations since the Philippines deployed nurses to Japan under the Philippines-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement in 2009. One passed the examinations in 2010 and the other in 2011.
Baldoz congratuled Angelica de Guzman Tabora, Fatima Carla Libunao Santiago, Debbie San Pedro Sarausa, Excelsis John Cadungo Borbon, Christine Montalba Guevarra, Necy Abiera Suerto, Jenilou Espares Cabalatungan, Jeneth Geronimo de Guzman, Elvira Bucled Sibayan, Faith Marie Maniago Munar, Erwin Huizo Ramrez, Mildred Echalas dela Cerna, and Ana Katrina Bantigue Catolico.
The first Filipina who passed the nursing tests was Ever Gammed Lim.
Baldoz recently announced that 28 nurses and 75 caregivers from the Philippines will comprise the fourth batch of candidates who will be trained by Japanese hospitals and care facilities under an agreement with Japan. –Vito Barcelo, Manila Standard Today
