Job vacancies on Phil-JobNet hit all-time high

MANILA, Philippines – There are plenty of vacancies to greet job seekers in the New Year, with the number of openings on the government’s official job portal Phil-JobNet hitting an all-time high.

Job opportunities in the Phil-JobNet system hit 1,384,728 during January to November period, according to Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz.

“Based on a preliminary report of the Bureau of Local Employment, the 1,384,728 job vacancies posted by employers in the Phil-JobNet from 1 January to 30 November 2013 surpassed by 21.8 percent the 1,137,551 opportunities they posted during the same period in 2012,” said Baldoz.

With more jobs available, it is possible for unemployment to drop further. It fell to 6.5% in the third quarter, from 7.3% in July and 6.8% in October last year.

From January to November, 203,639 jobseekers who applied for the jobs posted in the Phil-JobNet have received assistance from the Bureau of Local Employment.

“The resulting surplus of decent job opportunities posted by a growing number of accredited employers this year should encourage jobseekers to upgrade their skills and qualify for the available vacancies, especially in the coming year,” said Baldoz. –ABS-CBNnews.com
