MANILA, Philippines – A 21-year-old helper died after he was pinned by two backhoes in a warehouse in Valenzuela City Saturday morning.

Rexiel Bono was driving one of the backhoes in the Good Morning International Corp. warehouse when the main door suddenly opened at around 9:30 a.m., Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento said.

Without turning off the engine, Bono reportedly jumped from the backhoe to close the door but the equipment kept running and hit another backhoe. The two backhoes crushed his body.

It took several hours for co-workers to bring Bono to the Valenzuela General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigators are trying to find out if the victim knew how to operate the machine and if he was authorized to do so.They are also trying to determine if the company could be held liable for his death. –Rey Galupo (The Philippine Star)
